Where Can I Get Turf For My Skis

posthumous complaint (RW Fassbinder, 1982) MERRY CHRISTMAS

Dubliners (dead) by John Huston, Eyes Wide Shut by Stanley Kubrick and RW Fassbinder's Querelle share the unfortunate distinction of being the last works of these directors. In these cases and many other authors did not see the result end of his work. We start today a new section that will call Posthumous Opera, and that despite what may seem, turn has a large number of masterpieces. We begin with the aforementioned career Querelle.

This Christmas have taken to much, gifts, celebrations and other issues ... Exhausted Christmas. The days of kings as an enfant lift me to open my presents ... between them was Querelle de Brest by Jean Genet ... thus adding motivation the previous post, I dare to write about Querelle (1982), Rainer Werner Fassbinder.

The Director
Rainer Werner Fassbinder was born on May 31, 1945 in Bad Wörishofen (Bavaria). Had a fairly broad professional field, where d irector film, theater, actor, producer and actor. Was responsible, even mounting and photography of many of his works.
S on issues specific to their works, including: The search for identity, unrequited love, happiness, dream, desires, devious, bear witness to the twilight economic, political and sexual , Fassbinder is customary to have in their role of women in order to raise women's emancipation through friction in their relationships.

Querelle es una adaptación de la novela “Querelle de Brest”, de Jean Genet . Jean Genet es un novelista, French dramatist and poet (Paris, December 19, 1910 - Paris, December 15, 1986) is his fourth book, written after the Second World War, was long considered unfit for filming. Was offered to several filmmakers for filming Bertolucci (rejected by grotesque), Sam Peckinpah, Fassbinder finally accepted ..., leading to a personal idea: "In my opinion, there is murder and homosexuality, but a person with all possible means in this society tries to find its identity. This is, in my view, the theme of the novel. And to be true to himself, Querelle has to do everything he does from two angles: from which the company describes as criminal, that is, from the misery-not clean out anything, so I have to cheat from the other . Only in this way can take a step forward. "
The filming of Querelle was surrounded, I guess because the subject of many problems.

Considering the time you could find all sorts of problems, behaviors that see homosexuality as normal, others to be seen as abnormal behavior, come just lust, while others who do not wish, to another topic bumping him ... Brad Davis Fassbinder did know was not in favor of the crudeness of some images especially Brad Davis himself being the star of the film. Franco Nero, refused to pronounce certain words, but he made, and later also refused to kiss with Querelle, and was replaced by an embrace between them. Another anecdote is that of Nono, Fair bar owner had to shoot a sex scene with Brad Davis expressing Fassbinder face of lust ... he had an idea to make sinful express themselves adequately, put a song whose chorus was: I German black! ... In the end left the scene. The co-writer who embodied the character of Mario (Burkha Driest, corrupt police, a friend of Nono), I wanted it first appeared in the film drawings of erect penises, Fassbinder told him that his view of homosexuality was a different taste to yours and it was a cheap vision. Production issues were not at least see the time and, above all, the crazy of the topic.

Querelle, tells the story of a sailor who landed at the port of Brest. A sailor murderer, drug dealer and seductive that slowly gets inside a spiral undreground pleasures. While we view history, Querelle go through existential debates over their experience at the port of Brest.

In its initial stage Querelle George, the protagonist of the story, is a sailor criminal. Genet, little by little he is giving the configuration of a monster, the most beautiful of existing monsters. Killing for Querelle, a means purifying the soul. Thus there is a leak itself is not linear, but in circles. Querelle is feeding your own monster, still trying to escape (can not), really not a monster, it is its nature.
This is a topic unnatural. Do I consider homosexuality unnatural? No. really is not the issue, from my point of view on homosexuality. For me, the subject comprising Querelle, is homosexual practice among heterosexuals (In fact it is stated several times through the dialogues of his characters). You can also look from the standpoint of friction, the transition from heterosexuality to homosexuality or bisexuality, that clash in the personality of yourself ...; be and should be. Querelle tries to find its identity in the world around them, options that arise under the circumstances that surround him.

The story takes place in the port of Brest, alleys tailored to murder, lust a hotel, the singing of Jeanne Moreau, a black (Nono) who plays gay the dice (if you lose you own, if desire to choose the prostitute), a police colleague Nono and a kind of guardian, dressed in tight leather outfit and showing meat, etc.. F assbinder Querelle transforms the work of Genet, a theater twilight expressionistic tones (the clearest example is seen in the struggle between Querelle and his brother). Formally, a photograph is artificial, with Baroque decorations, costumes that lead to homosexuality (sailors suits, tight leather, clothing that barely cover anything ...), Expressionist-theatrical approaches.
Many interpreted the voice of complaint was that of Fassbinder himself before he died. Examples , several phrases that show us Fassbinder, the voice of narrator, which deals about the life of Querelle but with a poetic depth and reflective: "I have a feeling of fall, mortally wounded, and have been defeated, totally defeated, and my thoughts are sad "So, at one point the narrator says:" Quarrel not used to the idea of \u200b\u200bbeing a monster. Despite his youth, he knew the horror of being alone, trapped in a world of living beings. "Fassbinder's say it was a subject that still surrounded by people, was in deep solitude, was in decline. But these issues are things you never know for sure, would die before Fassbinder its release (31 August 1982).
