Get Well Messages For Males

OPERA PRIMA: Permanent Vacation (Jim Jarmusch, 1980)

Looking in the trunk of memories in a movie I thought that I'd like to me to make known, a little-known, one that had a major impact on the iter divigere ... which at the time was not valued as it should ... So I bring this post on Permanent Vacation (1980), the Director Jim Jarmusch.

Thinking, about the use of ellipses through times of less significance, combining action and action, I remembered someone who does not use them that way, but it is their language, through audiovisual expression. So I decided to write about Jarmusch, in his debut: Permanent Vacation (1980). It reflects what his film would be a posteriori.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jim Jarmusch was born in Cuyahoga Falls, Akron, Ohio, in 1953. His family was of European origin and middle class. His mother wrote movie and theater reviews for the Akron Beacon Journal before marrying the father, a businessman. His mother was the one who influence them, introducing the world of cinema led him to the local cinema. Apart from this influence, we reach some from the literature, due to the influence of his grandmother, undergrounds and other influences (values, social trends and ways that conflict with the provisions of the society). Such influences the usher along their work.
passion led them underground, he and his friends to make false identification documents to be integrated in bars art film, in which projected, in addition to the pornographic, as Chelsea Girl underground films of Andy Warhol.
Jarmusch, after graduating from middle school, tried to start the school of journalism school Medilas School of Journalism. These studies have had to leave due to his failure to attend classes. Later he tried to be a poet, entering the University of Columbia University, studying English and American literature. In his senior year he moved to Paris in an exchange program, but in the end remained about ten months.
worked as a deliveryman for a gallery of art, spending most of his time at the Cinematheque Française, studying European cinema. This stage was what prompted him to engage in the full film world, influenced by the creative freedom, among others, Bresson, Fassbinder, Vigo, etc.

On his return in 1979, began working as a musician in New York, appearing at the Graduate Film School at the University of New York. He studied for four years, knowing that in a future colleagues would his colleagues (Sara Driver, Tom Dicillo and Spike Lee).
In his senior year at New York University, worked as an assistant film director Nicholas Ray black. Already demonstrated its future film this: he gave a movie script, Ray said he lacked action, what Jarmusch said returning to deliver the same script with fewer events, endorsing Ray, demonstrating their visual independence. Ray had Jarmusch, as a personal assistant in the documentary Lightning Over Water (1980) (who performed with Wim Wenders). A short time later he started with the thesis, thus completing their studies. Thus leading to the story Permanent Vacation film. (Here is where to stop, in the future will return to the story, keep talking about Jarmusch).

FILM
To talk about the movie I can not help but keep talking about his life. The scholarship had been awarded for finishing school, he lays out in his debut, Permanent Vacation. This one, filmed with a budget of less than $ 15,000 (the scholarship), did not like their teachers, not the rodase without that error, the tutor came to his scholarship. Neither liked the investment. So the title of end of studies had to wait. It was filmed in 16mm, with a duration of 75 minutes, with the director of photography Tom Dicillo.
The film tells the story of a young Bohemian, Allie (Chirs Parker), a social misfit and a thinker who roams the streets of Manhattan.Fluye the streets and carried away by the tide of a wind that promulgates laissez faire, laissez passer, makes the viewer while watching eye over a stretch of his life, his existential being. His search through the city becomes an escape from it, encountering characters as misfits or more than him (crazy in the middle of the street, his mother in a psychiatric center, a homeless man that speaks of the Doppler effect, a boy who is her own reflection, etc). From this time and showed that the drama was not interested.
This film reflects from now, some of the hallmarks of Jarmusch, among others:
- quasi-documentary look at the reality, with the backdrop of the streets of the cities and the use of characters, standard pattern, misfits who seek their place in the world. (Many say that this obsession about the characters in Jarmusch comes in the wake of his gray hair from his youth, he felt like a foreigner, a stranger). The writer Paul Auster defined, the characters, as laconic, withdrawn, sad slurred.
- from Permanent Vacation and showed more interest in those inconsequential moments where nothing happens, rather than the drama itself. Focusing on the development of the atmosphere and characters, creatures that normally live in a continuous downtime (as Allie would say in the film: "What is history but one of these drawings are joining dots?")
, - Exposing his literary influences, musical and undergrounds.
- Having enough money to shoot a good movie, not to fill theaters. (Is the enemy of the big producers)
- Being a creator in all aspects. Is the director, screenwriter and even the bso composer of his films.
Permanent Vacation would not release in theaters and the critics, the same acclaim as a posteriori, it would be negative for the work done.
Permanent Vacation The importance lies, repeating what has already been mentioned, in the establishments of the pillars that would base his later work. All told, Jarmusch makes an outside director, independent among independents, "underground."
